Who Am I?
Hi Friends! Here's the obligatory "About Me" page. I'll kick us off easy: I'm Danielle, a 29-year-old woman living in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. I'm originally from Washington State and have lived in plenty of other places. Outside of my day job, I spend my time with my dog, reading, chatting with my best friends, and working on the creative projects that light me up.

Bear with me through the next few pieces of this page as I introduce you to more of me and my "Why" for this "Awefully Big Adventure".
Why Am I Here?
The simple answer: Joy.

I want to bring people joy through my story and remind them that even in the midst of overwhelming odds and darkness, joy can still be found. Many people refer to finding little sparks of joy in these times as "glimmers."
​
I have a long and exasperating medical history - the short of it is that I had a brain tumor for 5 years (ages 12-18) and my body is still dealing with the aftermath of that experience, along with a list of other conditions. The toll this has taken on my mental, emotional, and physical health will be discussed in the blog itself.
In the midst of my journey, I've been blessed to be surrounded by people who stood and stand by me no matter what. They have been my "glimmers", and I can guarantee I wouldn't be here without them. Even simple silent company while we deal with our own lives can bring true friends so much joy.
Vision
I've mentioned joy a few times. This is incredibly important to me because I have had a lot of things in my life that threatened to steal my joy (some of them got a bit too close to success for comfort). My faith, friends, and a very wonderful medical team have gotten me through the toughest of those moments.

Part of this journey I share with you will be me exploring new things that I am finding bring me more joy. I'm starting a podcast (a couple, actually), and I'm going to be sharing my adventure into the world of gaming. I never gamed when I was younger, save the occasional Wii game or a search for Carmen Sandiego.
It is my belief that you can never start anything too late, so I hope to bring joy to myself and my audience (that's you!) while I fumble along through the games I've always wanted to learn.
Mission
I'm in love with travel, books, writing, and quality time. I also love movies - basically, anything that allows me to observe and appreciate the world around me and the human condition, I will automatically be drawn to.
I'm also a sucker for a good cup of coffee. On the weekends, you can definitely find me at a local coffee shop or browsing a bookstore before my TTRPG (tabletop roleplaying game) sessions.
It's my goal with this blog to share my journey with you and to hopefully make the joy I find in these worlds contagious. Everyone deserves a source of peace and joy in their lives!
